England's Barmy Army Goes Brutal! Attacks Steve Smith On His 34th Birthday Today

The Barmy Army, England's official fan army, posted a tweet on Australian cricketer Steve Smith's 34th birthday. The tweet is considered distasteful as it featured a photo of Smith crying, accompanied by the message, "Happy Birthday Steve Smith. See you soon."

The image used in the Barmy Army's tweet was taken from a press conference at Sydney Airport, where Steve Smith, the former captain of the Australian cricket team, was visibly emotional and accepted full responsibility for his involvement in the ball-tampering scandal in 2018. Smith, along with David Warner, received a one-year ban from Cricket Australia, while Cameron Bancroft was banned for nine months.

The Barmy Army's birthday post, which now stands deleted,  received criticism from fans who were unimpressed with their choice of content, and they expressed their disapproval of the tweet by slamming England's fan army.

Steve Smith made a remarkable comeback to Test cricket after serving a one-year ban for his involvement in the ball-tampering scandal against South Africa in 2018. In his return to the longest format of the game, Smith achieved a century in the first Ashes Test against England in Birmingham.

Smith's extraordinary performance in the 2019 Ashes series garnered widespread acclaim, as he amassed a total of 774 runs against England at an impressive average of 110.54. Many considered it to be the greatest batting display in a series ever witnessed. Throughout the series, Smith only failed to score in one innings out of seven, providing crucial runs when needed and contributing to Australia's ability to secure a draw. In two Tests, he delivered outstanding performances in each inning, while also making significant fifties in the other two matches. The Barmy Army should take note of Smith's exceptional batting record in England and be wary of his prowess.

Smith is currently in England, preparing to participate in the World Test Championship final against India on June 7, followed by the five-match Ashes series against England, which starts on June 16.
