'There was a Bit Chaos...,' Glenn Maxwell Speaks his Mind After a Close Win vs RR

Royal Challengers Bangalore swashbuckler Glenn Maxwell is relishing the responsibility of batting at 4 in the ongoing season of the Indian Premier League.

Maxwell was once again at his imperious best on Sunday afternoon as he smoked a breathtaking 77 off 44 deliveries with the help of 6 fours and 4 sixes to light up a packed Chinnaswamy stadium.

The Royal Challengers were in a huge spot of bother when Maxwell walked to the crease as they had already lost their in-form opener and stand-in skipper in Virat Kohli and No.3, Shahbaz Ahmed.

As someone who has bailed out Australia from similar situations in the past, it was familiar territory for Maxi, and the dynamic 360 degree batsmen thrived big time as he painted the Chinnaswamy stadium with his inventive strokeplay.

Maxwell received great company from Faf du Plessis, who continued his rollicking form, and together, the duo went on set-up a brilliant platform for their side.

The duo went on to add 127 runs in just over 11 overs to eventually pay way for RCB to post a match-winning score.

Maxi was awarded the "Player of the Match" award, and here's what he said:

"It's a position I don't mind batting, I have done it for Australia when we lose early wickets. They have given me the freedom to go out there and express myself. Came into the season with good form, and have that trust from the change room, that makes the difference. New ball skidded on nicely, so we had to be busy and proactive. I think the way we ended the powerplay set the foundation, although there was a bit chaos in the end."

Maxwell has thus far hammered 253 runs in 7 outings at an average of 42.17 and a strike rate of 188.81 with 3 50+ scores, and he'll look to continue his form in the second half of the season as RCB chase elusive IPL title.
