Duckett on Kohli [Source: @ImJames_/x.com]
Before the start of the first Test match between India and England at Headingley, Ben Duckett was just another batter for Team India as their focus was on Joe Root, who had a tremendous record against them in whites. However, the England opener, Duckett, came out of the syllabus and tormented the Indian attack.
In a chase of 371 runs in the fourth innings, Duckett showed his attacking prowess and smashed a brilliant 149 runs that helped England chase their second-highest team total in Test history. Also, for his exemplary performance, the southpaw was adjudged the Player of the Match.
He is a feisty character on the field but little do people know that the English opener is an active social media user and is also an admirer of India's great and former skipper, Virat Kohli. After his heroics at Headingley, an old tweet of his surfaced online where he admired Virat Kohli and called him the best.
When Duckett praised Virat Kohli for his consistency
On January 15, 2017, India played in an ODI against England at Pune and the visitors batted first and took apart the Indian attack with ease. Jason Roy, Joe Root and Ben Stokes scored their respective half-centuries as the Three Lions posted a mammoth 350/7.
In reply, India had a horrendous start as they lost KL Rahul and Shikhar Dhawan early. However, Virat Kohli, alongside Kedhar Jadhav produced a partnership for the ages as the duo added 200 runs for the fifth wicket.
While Jadhav played a blinder and scored 120 off 76 balls, Kohli played the perfect second fiddle as he blasted 122 off 105 balls and helped India go past the winning line. After the game, Duckett posted his tweet for the India great.
Imagine if cricket was actually as easy as Kholi makes it look 🙄 #TooEasy
In that series against England, Kohli was at the peak of his powers as he slammed 185 runs with an average of 61, including a terrific ton at Pune.
