In the latest development, India's new number 3 batter, Sai Sudharsan suffered an injury during the first Test Vs England and is not completely fit for the next Test, set to be played at Edgbaston, Birmingham. As per Rohit Juglan, RevSportz Correspondent, the batter had a shoulder niggle as India sweat on his fitness.

As per the report by RevSportz, he had a niggle on the last day of the Test match as the Indian star felt some discomfort on his shoulder and could possibly miss the next Test if the injury doesn't heal on time. How he suffered an injury is yet to be completely disclosed but there are speculations that he got hurt while fielding in England's second innings chase.

Who will replace Sai Sudharsan if the batter fails to recover

There is still a week left for the second Test match and ample time for the Indian batter to recover. However, in case the southpaw fails to pass the fitness test, India will have a massive headache. There is no like-to-like replacement ready but in case Sudharsan is not available, Nitish Kumar Reddy could get a chance in the playing XI.

The all-rounder had a wonderful outing in Australia and has a solid defensive technique which makes him a brilliant commodity. If he gets a nod, Karun Nair will be pushed to number 3 and Nitish might bat at 6. If India doesn't go in with Nitish Reddy, the other option is Dhruv Jurel.

In such a scenario, Pant could play in as a pure batter with Jurel keeping the wickets for India.

Sudharsan's poor outing in Headingley Test

The Headingley Test was the debut outing for the Tamil Nadu batter in whites and it turned out to be a nightmare for him. In the first innings, Ben Stokes trapped him for a duck and it was followed by a brisk 30-run knock in the second innings.

He failed to capitalise on the start given by the openers in the first innings as the batter was dejected with his performance.
