Bangladesh captain, Tamim Iqbal has 'hailed' Dawid Malan for his outstanding hundred in the first ODI on Wednesday.

Chasing a tricky 210 on a spinning track, England lost wickets like a pack of cards, but Dawid Malan used his previous experience of playing in Bangladesh to full perfection. He batted with grit and determination to stay unbeaten at 114 off 145 balls to guide England past the winning line.

At one stage, England stared at the defeat when they were 160 for 7, but Malan kept his composure and batted through the innings for a special knock under pressure.

After the match, Bangladesh captain Tamim Iqbal had 'kind' words to say about Malan's match-winning knock.

"I thought the position we were in, we could have at least gotten 30-35 runs more. We didn't start that well but got a good partnership through the middle overs, and then lost three quick wickets at the end, I think that was crucial.

We bowled really well and fielded extremely well. But sometimes, you need to give it to an innings like the one Malan played. As I said, one man's innings made the difference. We know that if we have runs on the board, we have the bowling to defend them," Tamim stated.

It was Malan's 53rd innings in Bangladesh, having represented Prime Doleshwar Club in the Dhaka Premier League for two seasons. As a result, he knew the conditions on the back of his hands.

The second ODI between the two teams will be played on Friday.
