England emerge on top as Bangladesh get bested in the first ODI of the three-match series by three wickets.

England's bowlers blanket Bangladesh

After opting to bat first, Bangladesh put the home turf to their use. However, if not for Najmul Hossain Shanto's fifty, the hosts could have been left embarrassed.

As the Dhaka wicket acted as the bowlers' best friend, England accepted the mateship. Every England bowler chipped in with wickets as Bangladesh felt depleted.

While the pacers started the show, the spinners complemented well as Bangladesh got bundled out for 209 runs.

However, the Tigers at one stage were in a fighting trim to get near the 250-run mark as they were 159/4 in the 36th over. But with Shanto's wicket, the tide turned drastically as Bangladesh collapsed and England ended the first innings on a high.

Malan steals Taijul's thunder

Chasing 210 runs, Dawid Malan countered Bangladesh's spinners well but as the other batters seemed like cats on a hot tin roof, the target became a mountainous task.

While Jos Buttler was outdone by Taskin Ahmed, rest of the dismissals accounted for tweakers as Bangladesh gave England a run for their money.

Bangladesh had a close view at the victory pushing England to 161/7. However, Malan, who scored his fourth ODI ton, formed a 51-run partnership with Adil Rashid to take the Three Lions home in the 49th over.
