Women's Big Bash League (WBBL) franchise Sydney Sixers have extended Australian all-rounder Ashleigh Gardner's contract for three more years, keeping her with them until 2025. Gardner was named WBBL 2022 Player of the Tournament today, amassed 339 runs, and picked up 23 wickets this season to help the Sixers qualify for the final as table-toppers.

The 25-year-old is a two-time WBBL champion with the Sixers, having made her tournament debut in the inaugural season, scoring as many as 213 runs to hog the limelight even back then.

Gardner is the eighth-highest run-getter in WBBL history with 2,215 runs, with a best of 114. The off-spinner also has 65 wickets in the competition.

Since 2017, the Sydney-born has represented Australia Women in 3 Tests, 49 ODIs, and 60 T20Is.

Sydney Sixers Head Jonathan Robinson-Lees expressed his delight over their continued association with Gardner.

“She is a foundation member of the Sydney Sixers, and we are thrilled to have her recommit to the club for a further three years.

Ashleigh is a proven performer on-field and a fantastic person off it. We have seen her step seamlessly into the vice-captaincy role this season, and we know she will continue to be an important leader within our team."

Gardner will look to grab her third WBBL trophy when the Sixers meet the winner of today's WBBL 08 Challenger in the final on Saturday.
