Arshdeep Singh Bags Special Record with POTM Performance over KKR

Young seamer Arshdeep Singh has swiftly risen through the ranks. The pacer reached his 100th T20 wicket in the match between Punjab Kings and Kolkata Knight Riders in Mohali on Saturday.

After winning the toss, KKR skipper Nitish Rana decided to bowl first at the Punjab Cricket Association Stadium. The KKR bowlers, however, looked completely out of sorts as the hosts managed to pile up a big total of 191 in their 20 overs. The star performer of Punjab's innings was Sri Lankan Bhanuka Rajapaksa, who scored a half-century from 32 balls at a strike rate of over 150. 

In reply, Kolkata managed to score 145 in 16 overs before rain interrupted the game. Arshdeep Singh was the wrecker-in-chief with 3 wickets in three overs, during which he also reached 100 T20 wickets.

The youngster played only 3 matches for PBKS in the 2019 season but was retained by the franchise ahead of the 2020 auction. In that season, he took 18 scalps from 12 matches and established himself as a one of the permanent players of PBKS' playing XI.

Overall he has played 38 matches in the IPL from he has 43 wickets. Arshdeep has also played 3 ODIs and 26 T20Is for India. In the T20I format, he has taken 41 wickets while in ODIs, he is yet to get his maiden wicket.
