The second Test between West Indies and India, which starts today at Trinidad, will be a momentous occasion for former India captain Virat Kohli. The Test would mark Kohli's 500th international appearance for India since making his debut in 2008.

The batting legend has overall played 499 international games for India, scoring over 25,461 runs with 75 tons and 131 half-centuries, making him an all-time great already. Kohli will be the fourth Indian player to feature in 500 international matches after Sachin Tendulkar, MS Dhoni, and Rahul Dravid.

Former India cricketer Aakash Chopra has likened Kohli's career to a monk. Speaking on Jio Cinema, the former Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) opener praised Kohli for his dedication and thanked the batter for his contributions to Indian cricket.

Here's what Chopra said

"Virat Kohli's dedication to the game is very evident and in fact defines him. The way he has lived his life like a monk where it has only been about cricket. That is the reason he has reached where he is today and is a brand ambassador of the beautiful game. We are all thankful for what he has done for Indian cricket and for cricket in general."

The 34-year-old is known for his off-the-field work ethic and extreme discipline, which changed the method cricketers in India approach the game.

Kohli missed out on his 29th Test and the third century against West Indies, getting out on 76 in his last Test. Team India captained by Rohit Sharma leads the two-Test series 1-0, having won the Dominica encounter by an innings and 141 runs.
