Amit Mishra announced his retirement from all forms of cricket on September 4, bringing an end to a glorious career which spanned more than two decades. He could not play regularly for India, but was one of the star performers in IPL.

He is the only player to pick three hattricks in the Indian Premier League. He has done so for three different teams - Delhi Daredevils, Deccan Chargers and Sunrisers Hyderabad.

Amit Mishra Bagged His 3rd Hattrick In Low-Scoring Thriller

The last one of those hattricks came in 2013 for Sunrisers Hyderabad against Pune Warriors India. It was the 22nd match of the season, and Sunrisers Hyderabad scored just 119 in the first innings. Amit Mishra scored 30 with the bat too, and then was brilliant with the ball too.

Pune Warriors India struggled right from the start on a tough pitch, but still had some quality in their ranks. They were 107 for six and with 13 needed off 11 balls, Amit Mishra teased Angelo Matthews with a lovely flighted delivery. The Sri Lankan went for it, but did not time it properly and ended up hitting it to long off where Dale Steyn took an easy catch.

Amit Mishra Proves Too Hot To Handle With His Googlies

In the same over, he unleashed a series of googlies on the last three balls and removed Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Rahul Sharma and Ashok Dinda. All three of them departed for golden ducks. The first one of those was LBW, while the other two batters were clean bowled, and Amit Mishra became the first player in IPL history to bag three hattricks.

Mishra finished his four overs with figures of 19 for four, while Thisara Perera bagged three, giving Sunrisers Hyderabad an unbelievable win of 11 runs. Overall, it was another masterclass from Amit Mishra, and the cricketer once again showed why he is one of the best spinners in the country.
