As the Asia Cup 2025 approaches soon, teams are finalizing their preparations. Before stepping into the marquee tournament, Team India got a huge boost in Sanju Samson’s current form.

In the ongoing Kerala Cricket League, the wicketkeeper batter stunned the world with his exceptional form. Ahead of stepping into the Asia Cup 2025, former Indian all-rounder Irfan Pathan disclosed Sanju Samson’s perfect batting position.

Pathan Picks the Ideal Spot For Samson

After being overlooked for a long time, India's wicketkeeper-batter Sanju Samson secured his place in Team India’s Asia Cup 2025 squad. Ahead of the tournament, he got a massive boost as he set the Kerala Cricket League stage on fire with his explosive batting. Ahead of the upcoming mega event, his form has become an enormous weapon for Suryakumar Yadav and Co.

As the star batter is in outstanding form, former Indian all-rounder Irfan Pathan questioned his place in Team India’s playing XI. However, speaking on the Sony Sports network, Pathan picked up a perfect batting order for Sanju Samson.

“Sanju might not get a place in the Playing XI; it will be hard. But I saw some of the clips where Samson is playing down the order. If he can play down the order, then why not? Play Samson as well in No.5 position. If that happens, then Jitesh Sharma won’t be there,” Pathan said.

Reflecting On Sanju’s Inconsistency

Despite unreal cricketing brilliance, inconsistency has been a massive concern for Sanju Samson. In the ongoing edition of KCL, he smashed two brilliant tons but faced some heartbreaking dismissals too. Reflecting on his chances, Irfan Pathan pointed out his inconsistency issues.

“It’s a tough one, isn’t it? If you look at it, Sanju has done really well. Obviously, there is one question mark in terms of his consistency, like sometimes he is scoring hundreds, other times he is getting out cheaply, and there is a pattern as well, but he has done well,” he added.

In five innings in the Kerala Cricket League, Samson scored 368 runs, including two centuries. But with Jitesh Sharma also in India’s Asia Cup squad as a wicketkeeping contender, the spotlight now shifts to who will get the gloves on the grand stage.
