Harry Brook has been highly rated in English right from his school days, and the kid from Keighley has lived upto that billing. Many call him a generational talent, and at the Oval while chasing a record target against India, Harry Brook displayed all of that by smashing his 10th hundred in just his 30th Test match.

Brook's success at the international level might have pleased a lot of his well-wishers, but it was his school Hockey teacher who benefited most financially. According to The Independent, Harry Brook's former school cricket coach, Martin Speight, first spotted his miraculous talent. Brook was just 14 at that time, but Speight was confident that he would go onto play for his country in future.

Speight did not make any bets, but told the head of Hockey at school, Mark Shopland, to bet on Harry Brook. The Hockey coach obliged and made a bet of 100 Pounds at odds of 100-1. Brook eventually made his international debut in 2022 and is now the poster boy of English cricket. So, Speight got it absolutely right, but it was his friend, Mark Shopland, who enjoyed the monetary benefit, winning 10000 pounds for betting on the young and raw Harry Brook.

Nevertheless, both Speight and Shopland would now be hoping that their young school prodigy continues to shine at the international level and takes the country to greater heights. Brook is now the white-ball captain of England too, and though he is not in the leadership role in Test cricket currently, there are chances that he might lead his country in the purest format at some point in his career.
