Harry Brook is one of the most animated characters in the England Test setup, and despite his immense talent, the middle-order batter has hogged the limelight for all the wrong reasons in recent times. Throughout the ongoing Test series between India and England, Brook has given some strange verdicts, and has often been indludge in verbal arguments with the India side.

With his antics, Brook has certainly become public enemy number 1 in India. Ever since his first IPL stint in 2023, Brook has had a love-hate relation with the Indian crowd, and here are 3 bizarre statements which has made Brook not so likable amongst Indian cricket fans.

1) Brook's horror take on Indian spicy food

In the 2023 IPL season, Brook played for the Sunrisers Hyderabad, and despite a solitary century, he had a failed campaign with the bat. During the season, Brook had an unpopular opinion about the Indian spicy food.

“I can’t have that every meal,” he said of curry. “I’m not too bad with spice – I reckon I’m a bit better than a few lads here – but it baffles me how people can have curry for breakfast.”

2) When Brook insulted Indian fans

When Sunrisers bought Brook in the IPL 2023 auction, a lot was expected of him, but the English batter had a disappointing campaign, as he could only score 190 runs in 11 matches, with hundred runs alone coming in a single game.

After the contest, he took a dig at Indian fans who lambasted him for his IPL performance.

“There’s a lot of Indian fans out there who would probably say well done tonight, but they were slagging me off a few days ago. Glad that I could shut them up, to be honest.”

3) The smog effect in Kolkata

In the early 2025, England toured India for a white-ball series, and in a T20I game at Kolkata, Varun Chakaravarthy bamboozled him. After the game, Brook made a bizarre statement, stating that England’s batters had struggled to pick Chakaravarthy due to the smog in Kolkata.

This statement didn't go well with former India players like R Ashwin, and Sunil Gavaskar, who slammed the England batter for it.
