Bangladesh One-Day International Skipper Tamim Iqbal created history on Monday during his short 23-run knock against Ireland in Sylhet. Iqbal became the first Bangladesh batter to complete 15,000 international runs since making his debut back in 2007.

The 33-year-old opener sat on 14,986 runs prior to the start of the match. Unfortunately, Iqbal, who also celebrates his birthday today, was run out by Mark Adair.

Format-wise, the left-handed opener has 5,082 Tests, 8,169 ODI, and 1,758 T20Is runs from 383 appearances for Bangladesh.

Iqbal is the 17th Asian batter to score more than 15,000+ international runs, and 40th overall. Out of 15,009 runs, Iqbal has scored 57 runs playing for ICC World XI.

Mushfiqur Rahim is the second-highest international run-getter for Bangladesh with 13,766 runs, ahead of all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan, who has 13,734 runs.

Mahmudullah (9,986) and Mohammed Ashraful (6,655) complete the top-five list for Bangladesh.

Interestingly, the southpaw is the Bangladesh's leading run-getter in ODIs, second-highest in Tests, and third-most in T20Is.

As of writing, Bangladesh are 189 for 3 in 33 overs, with Najmul Shanto and Towhid Hridoy batting in the middle on 73* and 1*, respectively.

Ireland led the 3-ODI series 1-0 by winning the first ODI last Saturday.
