As per emerging reports, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is apparently planning to implement split coaching in the national setup, appointing a new coach for the T20I team.

India's ordinary performance in the Asia Cup, followed by their painful semifinal exit from the T20 World Cup, invited criticism for the captain-coach duo of Rohit Sharma and Rahul Dravid from all corners.

With ace all-rounder Hardik Pandya likely to be the skipper of the T20I team, the apex body is considering assigning him a new coach, revamping the leadership group in the shortest format.

Here's what a BCCI official has stated on the matter

"We are seriously mulling on it. More than it being Rahul Dravid or anyone’s ability, it is a question of managing tight schedules & having specialize skills on board. T20 now is like a separate sport, tough calendar & regular events. We also need to imbibe change. Yes, I can confirm – India soon will have new T20 Coaching SET-UP."

Meanwhile, fans and experts have started questioning Rohit Sharma's captaincy after India's narrow one-wicket defeat to Bangladesh in the first ODI on Sunday.

With his future hanging by a thread, the Indian captain needs to bring out his A game, as both a batter and tactician, as soon as possible.
