England's stand-in captain Moeen Ali hailed his bowlers for putting up an 'all-round performance' to help the visitors win the first T20I by six wickets on Tuesday (September 20).

After losing the toss, Pakistan got off to a brisk start with the opening pair of skipper Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan adding 85 runs for the first wicket. But the England bowlers bounced back to restrict Pakistan to a paltry total of 158 in their 20 overs.

Speaking in the post-match presentation about the game, Moeen Ali said that the English bowlers did well to pull things back in the middle overs after Pakistan's strong start in the powerplay.

"Brilliant performance, they got off to a great start, but we pulled things back in the middle overs, the bowlers were excellent,"

The stand-in English captain reserved special praise for the debutant Luke Wood, who starred with the ball in the first innings, finishing with match figures of 3/24 in his four overs.

"On a tough surface, I thought the batters did well. (Adil) Rashid and (Luke) Wood's debut was outstanding and was a good all-round performance from the bowling unit.

England’s veteran top order batter Alex Hales and Harry Brook shone in the run chase. Moeen said that the partnership between the two batters was wonderful to watch from the change room.

"We were smart with the chase, Alex Hales, batting after such a long time, he was nervous but showed why he's one of the best in the country. (Harry) Brook showed why he's rated so highly back home, their partnership was wonderful to watch."
