Asia Cup 2023: PCB Refutes Hybrid Model Boycott Reports

In the latest development, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has refuted the suggestions that Pakistan will boycott the 2023 Asia Cup, if the hybrid model is not approved by the Asian Cricket Council.

According to a report published in Cricket Pakistan, the PCB is confident that their proposed hybrid model will be approved by the member boards.

The Asia Cup was originally slated to take place in Pakistan before the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) stated its refusal to send the national team due to security issues in the country.

Since then, the PCB has come up with a hybrid model, which involves staging the non-India matches in the UAE, and the remainder in Pakistan.

Recent reports suggested that the likes of Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan have refused to accept the hybrid model.

However, sources in the PCB have strongly refuted the claims, alleging that its a conspiracy from India.

The sources further stated that the reports of member boards refusing the hybrid model as 'baseless", adding that the Pakistan board remains adamant in his stance as far as hosting the tournament in their country.

Meanwhile, Sri Lanka has emerged as a viable option to stage the Asia Cup, but final confirmation on the same is yet to come from the Jay Shah-led ACC.
