After being put into bat in the World Test Championship (WTC) Final 2023, the Australians find themselves in a commanding state after the first session of Day 1 at the Oval. Despite losing Usman Khawaja on a duck, David Warner and Marnus Labuschagne let the early burst from Mohammed Siraj and Mohammed Shami get over before the duo took charge against Umesh Yadav and Shardul Yadav. But KS Bharat provided a breakthrough when things were going against India.
Warner, in particular, played the part of an aggressor as he took the attack to the Indian bowlers and even smashed four boundaries off Umesh, where the momentum shifted towards Australia.
However, during the close of the session, wicketkeeper KS Bharat provided the much-awaited current to that India needed. In the 17th over of the innings, India's fourth seamer Shardul banged a short delivery, angling into the southpaw, to which Warner gloved towards the right-hand side of the keeper. Bharat moved sharply towards the line before he timed his jump to perfect to bag a stunning catch.
