Born on 3rd September 1990, in Amroha, Uttar Pradesh, Mohammed Shami has had a marvellous time for the Indian cricket team. Shami has made a name for himself with his immaculate movement, utilizing swing, especially reverse swing, to move the ball in both directions at a decent pace.

Before making his India debut in 2013, Shami impressed one and all with his prowess in the Indian Premier League (IPL). After being bought by the Kolkata Knight Riders in 2011, Shami finally made his IPL debut in 2013, two years later.

In 2011, Mohammed Shami was signed by the IPL franchise KKR after the former Kolkata's head coach, Dav Whatmore, spotted the youngster playing for the Bengal Cricket Association in Twenty20 matches. However, the pacer had to wait 2 years before making his comeback in 2013. 

Later, the Bengal bowler was signed by Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals) in 2014, continuing his IPL journey. So far, Shami has played for five franchises and is touted to play for Lucknow Super Giants in IPL 2026.

Mohammed Shami IPL Team 2026

Only a day before the deadline of the IPL 2026 Trade Window, Mohammed Shami was traded to Lucknow Supergiants from Sunrisers Hyderabad in an all-cash deal for ₹10 crore. Hyderabad had secured his services for a significant INR 10 Crore at the 2025 IPL Auction, making him their second-highest buy. 

Shami featured in only one edition for his former IPL franchise, SRH, scalping 6 wickets in 9 matches at an economy of 11.23. As a result, SRH decided to let the pacer go in the coming edition.
