Zimbabwe and Namibia cricket teams have qualified for the upcoming 2026 Men’s T20 World Cup in India and Sri Lanka next year. Both nations reached the final stage of the ICC Men's T20 World Cup Africa Region Final 2025-26 in Zimbabwe this week.

While Namibia outclassed Tanzania in the first semifinal, hosts Zimbabwe walloped Kenya in the second semifinal in Harare, with both high-octane matches occurring on Thursday, October 2.

Zimbabwe complete T20 World Cup redemption, Namibia repeat magic

The Zimbabwe cricket team, led by legendary all-rounder Sikandar Raza, outclassed Kenya by seven wickets with five overs to spare in Harare to win the second semifinal of the ICC Men's T20 World Cup Africa Region Final on October 2. Earlier on the same day, Namibia trashed Tanzania by 63 runs, with JJ Smit bagging the ‘Player of the Match’ award for his explosive 61*.

Nonetheless, Zimbabwe’s latest win helped them seal a spot in next year’s 2026 Men’s T20 World Cup in India and Sri Lanka. After failing to qualify in the 2024 edition of the tournament last year, Zimbabwe’s upcoming appearance will mark their first in a T20 World Cup since the 2022 edition in Australia.

Namibia, on the other hand, qualified for their fourth T20 World Cup in a row after making their tournament debut in the 2021 edition in the UAE. While Namibia reached the Super 12 stage of the competition in 2021, they suffered early Group Stage exits in the subsequent two chapters of 2022 and 2024 respectively.

With Zimbabwe and Namibia’s latest qualification, only three slots are remaining to fill the 20-team 2026 T20 World Cup competition. The three teams will be determined through the upcoming Asia-EAP Qualifier 2025 in Oman, set to be played between October 8 and October 17 later this month.
