Afghanistan will travel to Zimbabwe in October 2025 for a short series that includes one Test match and three T20 internationals. The matches will all take place at Harare Sports Club. Originally, the two sides were supposed to play two Tests, three ODIs, and three T20Is as part of the international cricket calendar, but the schedule has since been trimmed down.

The Test match will run from October 20 to 24, while the three T20 games are set for October 29, October 31, and November 2.

Interestingly, this will be the first time in four years that Harare Sports Club hosts a red-ball (Test) match. In recent years, Zimbabwe’s home Tests have mostly been held in Bulawayo at the Queens Sports Club, where they have had a tough run, losing all nine of their matches there.

For Zimbabwe, this Test will be their 10th of the year. In 2025 alone, they’ve already faced big teams like England, New Zealand, South Africa, Bangladesh, and Ireland in the longest format of the game. Afghanistan, meanwhile, will be touring Zimbabwe for the second time in less than a year. They had previously visited in late 2024 and early 2025, playing a full series across Tests, ODIs, and T20Is. On that tour, Afghanistan came out on top in every format.

Zimbabwe Cricket expresses excitement

Zimbabwe Cricket’s managing director, Givemore Makoni, expressed excitement about the upcoming games, he said,

"We are delighted to be hosting Afghanistan once again, this time for a one-off Test followed by three T20Is in Harare."

"Encounters between Zimbabwe and Afghanistan have become keenly contested and entertaining, and we are confident this upcoming tour will deliver more of the same for our fans."

Notably, last time the two sides met in a Test series, Afghanistan clinched a 1-0 victory after winning the second Test in Bulawayo. Star all-rounder Rashid Khan played a crucial role in that win, taking 11 wickets in the match.

Afghanistan to tour Zimbabwe Schedule:

  • One-off Test - October 20-24
  • 1st T20I - October 29
  • 2nd T20I - October 31
  • 3rd T20I - November 2
