Zimbabwe are set to take on Afghanistan in the third and final T20I of the three-match series at the Harare Sports Club on Sunday, November 2. The ZIM vs AFG 3rd T20I will begin at 5:00 PM IST.

Zimbabwe

Zimbabwe fell short once again in the second T20I, losing by seven wickets and conceding the series. After opting to bat first, they were bowled out for just 125. Captain Sikandar Raza top-scored with 37 while Brian Bennett, Dion Myers, Brendan Taylor, and Ryan Burl failed to convert their starts.

With the ball, Brad Evans impressed with 3/21 in his three overs while Wellington Masakadza took 1/20 in four. However, Richard Ngarava and Tinotenda Maposa proved expensive and Raza’s economical spell went unrewarded. Zimbabwe will need a collective performance across departments if they are to save their pride and end the series on a positive note.

Afghanistan

Afghanistan once again proved too strong for the hosts. Bowling first, Mujeeb Ur Rahman set the tone with two early wickets before captain Rashid Khan ran riot, returning figures of 3/9 from three overs. Abdullah Ahmadzai picked up two while Mohammad Nabi and Fareed Ahmad claimed one apiece.

In the chase, Ibrahim Zadran led from the front with an unbeaten 57 while Azmatullah Omarzai’s quickfire 25 off 13 balls sealed the win. Despite early hiccups from Rahmanullah Gurbaz, Sediqullah Atal and Darwish Rasooli, Afghanistan cruised home and will now be eyeing a 3-0 whitewash.

Harare Sports Club pitch report

The pitch at Harare Sports Club usually offers a fair contest between bat and ball. Seamers can extract bounce and movement early on but as the surface wears, slower deliveries and cutters become more effective. Spinners don’t usually get much turn here, though recent matches have shown some assistance for them. The previous game saw good batting conditions early on, so the captain winning the toss is expected to bat first.
