Senior Afghanistan all-rounder Mohammad Nabi got trapped in front of stumps for just a two-ball duck against Zimbabwe in the first T20I of the three-match series on Wednesday, October 29. Batting at number six and arriving to the crease at 128-4 in the 16th over, Nabi failed to accelerate Afghanistan innings in the slog overs.

Through the course of his latest debacle, the 40-year-old also attained an unwanted record for Afghanistan in T20Is.

Mohammad Nabi goes past Rahmanullah Gurbaz for unwanted record

Mohammad Nabi, a veteran of 143 T20I matches for Afghanistan, has now been dismissed for ducks a total of nine times in his 15-year-old career.

After failing to open his account against Zimbabwe in the series-opening first T20I match at the Harare Sports Club in Harare, Nabi went past teammate Rahmanullah Gurbaz in terms of recording the highest number of ducks among all Afghanistan batters in T20I history. Here is a look at four Afghan players with the highest number of T20I ducks to their names.

In spite of Mohammad Nabi’s failure with the bat, Afghanistan still mounted 180-6 from 20 overs after winning the toss and batting first. Ibrahim Zadran top-scored in the innings with a cracking 52 from 33 balls with six fours and a six.

Rahmanullah Gurbaz, Sediqullah Atal, Azmatullah Omarzai and Shahidullah all chipped in with crucial runs throughout the innings while captain Rashid Khan smeared a handful boundary towards the end.

For Zimbabwe, senior all-rounder Sikandar Raza unfurled the spell of the high-scoring innings by claiming tight figures of 3-20 from his four overs. Blessing Muzarabani and all-rounder Brad Evans also collected three wickets between them.
