Despite being omitted from the World Cup and India’s T20I squad for the five-match series against Australia, Yuzvendra Chahal has been making headlines in the domestic circuit. On his 130th List-A appearance, the crafty leg-spinner bagged impressive figures of 6/26 against Uttarakhand in the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy 2023-24. On the back of his ground-breaking performance, Chahal also reached a landmark of 200 List-A wickets.

Chahal hit the ground running by picking up three scalps inside his first four overs. Jiwanjot Singh, Dikshanshu Negi, and Swapnil Singh were among the first three dismissals. The wily spinner then bamboozled Akhil Rawat to get to his landmark milestone of 200 List-A wickets. Subsequently, Chahal cleaned up Mayank Misha to claim his fifth List A five-for.

He finished his entire quota of 10 overs by ending a dominant stay by Aditya Tare who at the time was batting on 65. It is worth noting that these are Chahal’s second-best bowling figures in List-A Cricket for Haryana. Previously, the 33-year-old registered his career-best List A figures of 6/24 against Jammu and Kashmir in 2012.

The leg-spinner previously featured in India’s ODI World Cup squad for the last edition where he enjoyed a successful run under the leadership of Virat Kohli. He finished with 12 wickets to his name and also registered his best bowling figures of 6/42 in that tournament which came against Australia.

Chahal last featured for India in a T20I series against West Indies in August this year. At the time of writing, Uttarakhand’s innings came to a close as they set a target of 208 for Haryana to chase down in their allotted 50 overs.
