Stand-in skipper Matthew Wade assured that there wouldn't be any undue pressure on Man of the Match of the 2023 World Cup, Travis Head to participate in the first T20I against India on Thursday at the Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam.

Fresh from their World Cup triumph against India, Australia enters the series with high spirits, while the Men in Blue seek redemption with a victory in the series opener.

In the all-important summit clash played on Sunday at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, Head outclassed the Indian bowlers, scoring 137 runs in Australia's successful chase of 243, securing a six-wicket win with seven overs to spare.

However, after playing arguably the best innings of his life, Head will turn his attention to T20Is. Three days after the World Cup final, it'll be interesting to see whether Head plays the first T20I or not.

"There won’t be any pressure from us for him to play the first T20I, but he will definitely feature throughout the series. The T20 World Cup is not that far away, and I think we have got 10 or 11 games before the battle kicks off again. Whether it’s tomorrow or throughout the series, you will see Travis play," Matthew Wade said during the pre-match press conference.

Addressing the importance of managing player fatigue after an intense World Cup campaign, Wade highlighted that some cricketers who participated in the mega event in India would sit out the opening T20I.

"We have not got so many injury concerns as certain. We are checking with the guys who played in the World Cup. We are trying to make sure that they are ready to go mentally and physically. So, there will be a few of those guys who will definitely miss out tomorrow just to get themselves up and about for the next four games. Apart from the physical and mental fatigue, we have a full squad to pick from," Wade added.

Australia, riding on their ODI World Cup victory, aims to extend their winning streak in the shorter format under the leadership of Matthew Wade.

Meanwhile, Suryakumar Yadav will make his debut as India's T20I captain, providing a significant opportunity for the talented batter to showcase his leadership skills.
