In a desperate bid to stun India in the 2025 Asia Cup final, Pakistan wicketkeeper Mohammad Haris and his teammates resorted to some hilarious verbal antics on the field. During the high-pressure game at the Dubai International Stadium, Haris was caught by the stump mic as he sledged Indian batter Tilak Varma towards the end of the powerplay overs.
As it transpired in the game, Haris attempted to troll Tilak for his expansive IPL background for the Mumbai Indians franchise, only for his sledging endeavor to hilariously backfire as the star India player played a decisive knock in a tense chase. To make matters worse, the Indian number four was even handed a huge reprieve by none other than Mohammad Haris himself, who made a mess of an otherwise easy run out as the game was heading towards a tight finish.
Mohammad Haris mocks Tilak Varma, got silenced by MI batter
Pakistan got Team India on the mat after Shaheen Afridi and Faheem Ashraf’s opening breakthroughs slipped the ‘Men in Blue’ to 20-3 towards the end of the powerplay overs. Batting at number four, Tilak Varma arrived to the crease early in the innings and was subjected to some intense verbal antics by several close-in Pakistani fielders, especially from wicketkeeper Mohammad Haris.
In the final over of the powerplay, Haris was heard mocking Tilak Varma for his IPL heritage with Mumbai Indians. Caught by the stump mic, the Pakistani cricketer said:
“Yeh, Mumbai nahi hai. Yeh, IPL nahi hai.”
As it turned out, Tilak Varma rescued India’s wavering ship like a phoenix from the ashes, mounting 69 unbeaten runs from 53 balls with three fours and four timely sixes. The Mumbai Indians batter was also at the other end when Rinku Singh notched up the winning runs in a thrilling final over as India clinched the 2025 Asia Cup.
