Yashasvi Jaiswal set a new record for Indian batters in T20I history by smashing 53 runs off just 25 balls in the first six overs against Australia. The young opener's innings included a breathtaking combination of 9 fours and 2 sixes, providing India with a fiery start in the second T20I of the five-match series at Greenfield International Stadium, Thiruvananthapuram.
However, the jubilation was short-lived as Nathan Ellis struck a crucial blow for Australia in the 6th over. With an excellent field placement, Ellis managed to induce a false shot from Jaiswal. The delivery, full and just outside off, prompted Jaiswal to go for a forceful drive through extra cover.
Unfortunately for him, the execution lacked finesse, resulting in a thick outside edge. Adam Zampa, strategically positioned like a fly slip on the edge of the circle, made no mistake and took the catch over his head.
Jaiswal's departure marked the end of a dynamic partnership with Ruturaj Gaikwad, which had accumulated 77 runs off 35 balls.
At the time of writing, India at 100 for 1 in 10 overs.
