Jaiswal's reaction to his dismissal [Source: @Cricket_Ali/X]
Young Indian batter Yashasvi Jaiswal recorded a rare failure, as Chris Woakes got his prized scalp in India-A's ongoing unofficial Test against England Lions in Northampton. Opening the batting for India-A, Jaiswal could score only 17 runs before ace English seamer Chris Woakes trapped him with a vicious nip-backer.
Livid Yashasvi Jaiswal Animatedly Argues With Umpire
The incident happened during the seventh over of India-A's innings after England Lions skipper James Rew won the toss and opted to bowl first. His decision to bring Woakes for another over paid rich dividends for the hosts, with the bowling all-rounder dismissing Jaiswal for 17 runs.
From over the wicket, Woakes pitched the ball up, swinging it back to Jaiswal, who miscued an adventurous flick shot. He was beaten by the late swing, as the ball hit him right on his front pad, prompting Woakes and his teammates to appeal for a leg before.
The umpire had no hesitation in declaring Jaiswal out; however, the batter was visibly frustrated by the call, anticipating the ball would've missed the leg stump. He stood his ground for several seconds before making a slow walk back to the pavilion.
It's worth mentioning that Jaiswal's off and middle stumps were visible when he was struck on his front pad. Thus, had the DRS been available, it could've saved Jaiswal, who probably fell prey to an ordinary on-field call.

Jaiswal Registers Second Low Score On 3rd Outing In England
Yashasvi Jaiswal has had a topsy-turvy start to his maiden England tour. The swashbuckling opener managed only 24 runs in the first innings of the previous game before bouncing back with a scintillating fifty in his subsequent outing.
However, with him falling for merely 17 runs, the Indian think tank could be a little bit concerned about his success as a top-order batter in the upcoming five-Test series.
