In a development that could shock many, legendary all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan has accused Tamim Iqbal and ex-BCB director Jalal Yunus of conspiracy against former Bangladesh coach Chandika Hathurusingha. Led by Shakib, Bangladesh fell flat in the 2023 World Cup in India, managing only two wins across nine outings.

The Tigers' disappointing show prompted the BCB to form a three-member panel to investigate the matter, resulting in Hathurusigha's eventual exit as the head coach.

Shakib Blames Tamim And Yunus For Hathurusingha's Departure

According to the report, Hathurusingha had an alleged altercation with Nasum Ahmed, who claimed that the head coach apparently pulled him by his jersey's collar and hit him on the neck.

Although there was no eye witness of this incident, Tamim and Yunus, as disclosed by Shakib, added fuel to the fire, leaking the inside information to the media.

"The current head coach (Hathurusingha) is good for the Bangladesh team. However, during the World Cup, the tension between the Head Coach and the other Coaches was visible. Chairman cricket operations (Jalal Yunus) and Tamim Iqbal had called Nasum about the 'slapping' allegation and had leaked it to the media to build a case against the Head Coach so that he could be sacked," the report quoted Shakib, as stated by Cricbuzz

Shakib also revealed that Hathurusingha had a fallout with the bowling coach Allan Donald, with the duo having frequent disagreements on key strategic decisions during the team meetings. Such incidents adversely affected Bangladesh's World Cup campaign, leading to their group-stage exit, including an embarrassing defeat from the Netherlands.

The report states that Shakib wasn't interested in taking up the captaincy, as he was focused on improving his performance as an all-rounder. Despite internal rifts between the coaches, the committee acquitted Shakib of all charges, considering the way he kept the team bonding intact while leading from the front with a string of impressive performances.
