Pakistan fast bowler Mohammad Abbas has expanded his deal with the Nottinghamshire Cricket Club for the ongoing 2025 County Championship season in England. The 35-year-old was originally due to be unavailable for selection until September, as he was only slated to play the final three matches of the season from here on.
However, Abbas is now subject to international clearance, thus enabling him to be available for four additional fixtures for the club between June and July.
Nottinghamshire retains Pakistan’s trump card
The Nottinghamshire Cricket Club has secured key pace asset Mohammad Abbas for four additional matches of the 2025 County Championship season in the months of June and July. The speedster has already played three matches for the club, all in May, picking up 16 wickets in the process in six innings, which included match-winning figures of 6-45 against Yorkshire in Leeds a couple of weeks ago.
Mohammad Abbas’ availability for four extra fixtures will now see him play Nottinghamshire’s match against Yorkshire in Trent Bridge, home and away matches against Somerset and an additional Division One affair against Hampshire at The Rose Bowl in Southampton.
As quoted by Trentbridge.co.uk, Mohammad Abbas has expressed his excitement of extending his stay with Nottinghamshire, and added that he is hoping to carry his momentum in the remainder of the season.
Nottinghamshire head coach Peter Moores also described Mohammad’s extension as “fantastic news” for the cricket club.
Notably, the Nottinghamshire cricket club is currently ranked at the top of the County Championship Division One points table with fours win and just a solitary defeat from seven matches. They will now face Yorkshire between June 22 and June 25 at Trent Bridge in Nottingham.
