The inaugural edition of the Women's Premier League has reached its business end and the competition of making it to the top 3 is intensifying with each passing game. However, Mumbai Indians and Delhi capitals have already qualified and for them, it is now a battle to finish at the top of the table to take a direct flight to the final.

So, when these two sides take field against each other on Monday, 20th of March, it will be a battle of supremacy as a win for Mumbai Indians will seal the top slot for them while a win for Delhi will give them a huge boost in their bid to finish at the top.

Team Preview

Mumbai Indians

Mumbai Indians have been the team to beat this season. They have been absolutely dominating and have stamped their authority by winning their initial five games. A loss against UP Warriorz in the last game might just be a blessing in disguise which might reignite the passion to go all in and shed off any complacency that might have crept in.

Harmanpreet Kaur has led from the front while the trio of Hayley Matthews, Natalie Ruth Sciver-Brunt and Amelia Kerr are the pillars of the side. They have got good support from Issy Wong and Yastika Bhatia but the find of the season has been Saika Ishaque - her crafty left-arm spin has bamboozled opponents and we can expect Mumbai Indians to make a strong comeback after a loss in the last game.

Delhi Capitals

The Meg Lanning-led Delhi Capitals  have also played some good cricket. They have won four out of the six games played so far and have delivered an aggressive brand of cricket. Meg Lanning and Shafali Verma are one of the best opening pairs of the competition and have done the bulk of the scoring for their side.

However, they need their middle order to contribute more if the openers failed to get going and that is something they were not able to do in their previous game.

Pitch Report

The pitches in Dr DY Patil Sports Academy have started to get slower after starting off as a belters at the start of the tournament. The score of 150-160 could be a winning total here as the spinners will get some grip and the odd ball may stick on the surface. There is still value for runs if the batters apply themselves and we will see an even battle between the bat and ball.
