World Cup 2023, SA Vs BAN | Playing 11 Prediction, Cricket Tips, Preview & Live Streaming

Flexing their muscles past tournament contenders England, South Africa made a valiant recovery from an incredible upset versus the Netherlands in the ICC World Cup 2023. With a remarkable NRR boost against the Englishmen in Mumbai, the Proteas stand at third in the ten-team competition following three victories in four league matches.

In contrast, Bangladesh have had a disappointing run leading into their next match against the Proteas in Mumbai on Tuesday (October 24). The Asian rivals toppled off the spirited Afghans with ease in their campaign opener but have suffered three successive defeats against England, New Zealand and India since then.

SA vs BAN: Team Previews

South Africa

South Africa will be pleased to have their regular skipper Temba Bavuma returning in time for the Bangladesh clash. The top-order player and inspirational skipper had missed out on the England game with an injury. In his absence, stand-in skipper Aiden Markram did an impressive job at the helm of affairs.

Proteas belted the poor English attack for a massive 399/7 on a flat pitch at the Wankhede Stadium and crushed the vaunted opposition batting line-up for a paltry 170 all out in one of the biggest wins in World Cup history.

If ever the South Africans needed a NRR boost, they got one over the Englishmen. Now it's about their entire unit clicking together as they head deep into their World Cup campaign with the intention to further clear up their path towards the knock-outs stage.

Bangladesh

To stop the Proteas juggernaut, Bangladeshis will have to produce allround brilliance at the Wankhede. The Bangla Tigers haven't punched together as a unit, with their batting unit struggling to post strong totals on the board and their bowling unit lacking incisiveness and robust threat on good batting surfaces.

Their problems could well multifold on a flat batting beauty in the next match. It would require a herculean effort from Bangladesh to outperform the rampaging South African batters and for their bowling arsenal to stand up to the huge task.

They'll be boosted by the return of their skipper and premier allrounder Shakib Al Hasan, who needs to step up and perform in either skill to inspire the rest of the pack and help the team compete. A loss would nearly end Bangladesh's hopes with a month left in the tournament.

SA vs BAN: Mumbai Pitch Report

When it plays true and flat, Wankhede's small boundary dimensions combine with the surface to make it among the most unfair setting for bowlers.

England's collapse in the second half versus South Africa couldn't be put down to the quality of bowling or the track suddenly undergoing a change but the weight of pressure in the 400 chase crushing their spirits. A similar pitch could prove fatal for the Bangladeshis against a South African side aiming for complete domination.
