In a significant development, the ongoing Women's World Cup match between Pakistan women and England has been halted because of rain at the R. Premadasa stadium. Heavy rains made a fall at the stadium in Sri Lanka, which forced the players to return to the pavilion.

Notably, England, batting first, were troubled by Pakistan women as the Women in Blue were restricted to 79/7 after 25 overs, which is when the rain interrupted the game.

R. Premadasa Stadium weather update

Talking about the weather update at the R. Premadasa Stadium, there is 90% chances of rain, which seriously puts the game under threat and it does not look like a passing shower. Further, the stats according to Accuweather reveal that around 1-2 hours of rain is predicted, which can result in loss of overs.

At present, the ground staff have covered the entire stadium and the play looks unlikely to resume shortly.

The data reveal that there will be a high humidity, with very high chances of rain and also cloud cover, which will help the bowlers for a long term if the rain persists.

What happens if the match gets abandoned?

It will be the second consecutive game that will be abandoned in this World Cup match as New Zealand women and Sri Lanka women game was also called off because of rain. Nonetheless, if there will be no result in this game, then it will help Pakistan get a point, who are winless in this tournament.

With one point in four matches, Pakistan will find themselves on the brink of elimination and the maximum they can reach is seven points, which won't guarantee them a qualification.

For England, they will go level with Australia, who too have seven points in four matches.
