Afghanistan and Pakistan are set to face off in the highly anticipated final of the UAE Tri-Series 2025 at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium on Sunday, September 7, at 8:30 PM IST. One of the biggest talking points ahead of the clash is whether Afghanistan star Rashid Khan will feature in the playing XI for the all-important title match.

Rashid Khan Expected To Play In The Tri-Series Final

Rashid Khan, who was rested along with senior all-rounder Mohammad Nabi in Afghanistan’s final group-stage clash against UAE, is expected to return to the side for the final. The Afghanistan team management opted to rotate players and give opportunities to their bench strength in the dead rubber against UAE, having already secured qualification.

However, with the trophy on the line, Rashid Khan’s inclusion looks almost certain. The 26-year-old leg-spinner remains Afghanistan’s trump card against Pakistan, especially on Sharjah’s spin-friendly conditions. Rashid has a proven record against Pakistan in T20 cricket and his wicket-taking ability in the middle overs makes him a key figure for Ibrahim Zadran’s side.

Importantly, there are no injury concerns regarding Rashid Khan, and his absence in the previous game was purely strategic to manage workload ahead of the final and the upcoming Asia Cup.

Pakistan, on the other hand, will pose a stern challenge with their in-form batting unit and potent pace attack. The Men in Green defeated Afghanistan in the tournament opener but suffered a setback in the reverse fixture, where Afghanistan bounced back strongly. With the series on the line, Rashid Khan’s role with both ball and leadership on the field will be vital.

While the final XI will only be confirmed at the toss, Rashid Khan is fully fit and available. Given the stakes, fans can expect the Afghan talisman to return tonight against Pakistan in Sharjah.
