Kieron Pollard turned back the clock with a breathtaking innings in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2025, smashing a 17-ball half-century to enter the top five list of fastest fifties in tournament history. His explosive knock of 54* off just 18 deliveries, laced with five fours and five towering sixes, lit up Providence Stadium.

Yet, despite his brilliance, Trinbago Knight Riders fell agonisingly short as Guyana Amazon Warriors held their nerve to chase down 168 with just one ball to spare.

Pollard Enters To Shoulder TKR

Batting first, TKR endured a sluggish start. Alex Hales and Colin Munro departed early, while Nicholas Pooran’s cameo was cut short by Moeen Ali. Keacy Carty and Darren Bravo attempted to steady the innings but their 56-run stand consumed 61 balls, leaving TKR struggling at under a run-a-ball. When Bravo fell for 33, the innings seemed destined for mediocrity.

Enter Kieron Pollard. Walking in with TKR at 95/4, the veteran launched an all-out assault. He peppered the boundaries at will, punishing anything full or short, and single-handedly lifted the scoring rate. Carty was even retired out to bring Andre Russell in, but the show belonged entirely to Pollard.

In the final overs, he unleashed a barrage of sixes, powering TKR to a competitive 167/5. His fifty in 17 balls equalled David Miller and Evin Lewis in the CPL’s fastest list and was second only to Andre Russell’s 14-ball blitz.

Nevertheless, the Warriors, despite early setbacks, responded with composure. Shai Hope (53) and Shimron Hetmyer (49) anchored the chase with an 83-run partnership before Dwaine Pretorius’ late cameo (26* off 14) sealed the win in dramatic fashion. For all of Pollard’s fireworks, the night belonged to Guyana, who took home a three-wicket win and crucial points in the CPL race.
