Unfortunately, Bangladesh's key player, 23-year-old Shoriful Islam, missed the second Test between Pakistan and Bangladesh at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium due to an unexpected groin strain.

The rain-marred city of Pakistan resulted in Day One being called off. Eventually, the Bangladesh team, led by skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto won the delayed toss on Day 2, and it was then that Taskin Ahmed was included in the Playing XI as Shoriful's replacement.

Meanwhile, in an official detailed statement by Bangladesh Cricket Board, it was revealed:

"Bangladesh pacer Shoriful Islam has a groin strain and could not be considered for selection in the second Test against Pakistan which got underway in Rawalpindi today( Saturday). The left-arm pacer had complained of discomfort in the groin area after the first match and subsequent tests confirmed the injury.

Shoriful underwent an MRI following the first Test and the results show a Grade 1 left adductor strain. Recovery usually takes around 10 days in such cases and he has started his rehab," Bangladesh physio Bayjedul Islam Khan mentioned in the statement.

Saim Ayub-Shan Masood Stand Strong vs Bangladesh

Talking about the game, Bangladesh yet again won the toss and opted to bowl first. The inclusion of Taskin Ahmed did early wonders for Bangladesh as he struck early on and removed Abdullah Shafique for a duck.

Both Saim Ayub and Shan Masood took control and recovered well from that initial set-back, and added an unbeaten 99-run partnership for the second wicket.

As the two teams take off for lunch, it would be interesting to see how things play in gthe upcoming leg of the day.
