In a recent statement, former Pakistan cricketer Kamran Akmal expressed his wish for Indian cricket legends Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma to visit Pakistan before they retire. This gesture of sportsmanship reflects deep-seated cricketing rivalry and respect between India and Pakistan, which transcends borders.

He also mentioned, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma have earned global acclaim for their skills and match-winning performances.

"Virat and Rohit should visit Pakistan before they retire. These two are stars of world cricket, traveling across the globe to play the game. Every single fan loves them. They have a massive fan base due to their batting and match-winning performances. The fan following they will experience in Pakistan will surpass anything they've seen elsewhere," Akmal told Times of India.

"Virat is a role model for many around the world, Rohit is the World Cup-winning captain, and Bumrah is currently the best pacer in the world. When players like Virat, Rohit and Bumrah visit Pakistan, it will evoke unique feelings in every fan. Virat has been to Pakistan during his under-19 days, but he wasn't as popular then," he added.

He mentioned that if Virat Kohli is willing to visit Pakistan now, he would experience overwhelming support from Pakistani fans, who admire him even more than their cricketers. Akmal also emphasised that Kohli, along with Rohit Sharma and Bumrah, holds a special place in the hearts of cricket fans in Pakistan, surpassing the popularity of their national players.

Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli's Visit Pakistan In Doubt

As the Champions Trophy is to be conducted next year in Pakistan the questions that need to be addressed are whether Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma will visit the neighbouring nation. Another factor that can impact this is that with Jay Shah recently appointed as the ICC Chairman, this situation gains additional layers of significance and complexity.

Historically, cricket matches between the two nations have been rare, often limited to ICC tournaments or neutral venues due to security concerns and political issues. The last time India toured Pakistan was in 2008, and since then, bilateral series have been suspended.
