Swashbuckling Indian batter Ishan Kishan missed out on Jharkhand's second Vijay Hazare Trophy match against Rajasthan. The left-handed keeper-batter recently grabbed the limelight with a blistering century against Karnataka. However, he was one of the three players missing from Jharkhand's playing XI in today's contest, with Kumar Kushagra revealing the reason behind his exclusion.
Why is Ishan Kishan absent from Jharkhand XI vs Rajasthan?
Jharkhand's stand-in skipper Kumar Kushagra came out for the toss in Ishan Kishan's absence. As Rajasthan won the toss and opted to bowl first, Kushagra revealed that the BCCI team had advised Ishan to rest.
Ishan has gone back to his home, and this is the reason why he is not playing against Rajasthan. However, Kushagra also stated that the left-handed batter would rejoin the team on January 2.
Therefore, he will also miss Jharkhand's next two group-stage matches against Puducherry and Tamil Nadu, and is likely to make his comeback in the Vijay Hazare Trophy against Kerala on 3rd January.
"He (Ishan Kishan) has been given rest by the BCCI team. He has gone back home. He will be back on 2nd January," Kushagra was quoted as saying by CREX.
Life comes full circle for Ishan Kishan
Not long ago, Ishan Kishan was one of the most high-profile names whom the BCCI snubbed from its annual central contracts. While Ishan cited mental fatigue as the primary reason for missing domestic games, the BCCI reportedly found his attitude problematic and eventually excluded him from the central contracts.
However, a breakthrough season in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (SMAT), where Ishan led Jharkhand to a historic triumph, earned him a wildcard entry into India's T20I World Cup squad. Thus, from serving a central contract omission for not playing domestic cricket to making the BCCI rest him before a marquee tournament, Ishan Kishan's life has truly completed a full circle.
