In a surprising turn of events, Pakistan decided to drop Saim Ayub from their playing XI on Thursday (June 6) in their ICC T20 World Cup 2024 clash against the USA at Grand Prairie Stadium, Dallas.

The reason was simple; Pakistan opted to open with Mohammad Rizwan and Babar Azam, their most trusted batters. Of course, this is nothing but a showpiece event, and they did not want to have inexperience right at the top. In addition, to make matters worse, Saim Ayub's form in recent times was not great either.

"We have our fast bowlers. Imad will be missing today because he is having an injury. But we are playing with four fast bowlers," Babar said after USA skipper Monank Patel won the toss and invited Pakistan to bat first.
