Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) will square off against Rajasthan Royals (RR) in the sixth fixture of IPL 2025 on March 26 at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati, Assam. The match, scheduled to begin at 7:30 PM IST, will see RR under the tactical leadership of Riyan Parag aiming to overcome past inconsistencies after they lost the first match against SRH.

Why Is RR's Home Game Scheduled In Guwahati?

However, one significant change this season has left fans curious-Rajasthan Royals will not be playing their home match at their usual venue, Jaipur's Sawai Mansingh Stadium. Instead, the team will face KKR in Guwahati.

Traditionally, RR has played its home matches at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur, but the decision to play at Barsapara Stadium has sparked intrigue among fans.

While RR has not provide an official explanation for this change in their home venue, it’s worth noting that the Barsapara Stadium hosted two of RR’s home matches last season, a trend that appears to continue in IPL 2025. This year, Rajasthan Royals are also scheduled to play their next match at the same venue against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on March 30.

BCCI's Initiative To Promote Cricket

The venue shift might also align with the BCCI's broader strategy to conduct IPL matches across a wider range of locations in the country. The BCCI is keen to promote cricket in various regions of India, which could explain the selection of Guwahati for the Royals' home fixtures.
