Cricket fans are a different breed as they don’t just watch the game, they live and breathe it. During Day 1 of the Sheffield Shield 2024-25 final between Queensland and South Australia at the Karen Rolton Oval in Adelaide, one fan decided to take things to a whole new level.

A Fan Mimicked Kohli And Head’s Celebrations During Sheffield Shield Final

In one of the most bizarre and hilarious moments of the season, a fan, dressed head to toe in a red cricket kit was spotted outside the boundary lines, fully padded up, and celebrating like he’d just brought up a centure.

The man had no crease to guard, and definitely no match to play but that didn’t stop him from channelling his inner superstar.

The fan didn’t just stop at dressing up. Oh no, he was in full performance mode. First, he whipped out Travis Head’s iconic “bat in helmet” celebration, the one we all remember from the big moments.

And then, just to add more spice, he mimicked Virat Kohli’s “my bat does the talking” pose with attitude and swagger. He was putting on a proper show, and honestly, he almost stole the limelight from the actual cricket.

Cricket Australia Gave Him a Nod

The moment didn’t go unnoticed. Cricket.com.au posted the video of the fan in action with the caption: “well batted sir”. Most fans show their love with jerseys and posters. This guyturned the final into his own backyard.

South Australia In The Driver's Seat

While the fan was busy going viral, there was some serious cricketing action taking place. South Australia, after winning the toss, decided to bowl first it paid off. They bundled out Queensland for just 95. Brendan Doggett picked up 6 for 31 and ran through the batting order like a hot knife through butter.

In reply, South Australia ended Day 1 at 158/6, leading by 63 runs. Jake Lehmann is holding the fort on 42 while Ben Manenti is keeping him company on 36.

Sure, there were wickets, runs and plenty of on-field drama but the moment that had everyone talking came from outside the rope.
