The latest edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is about to kickstart with the grand clash between defending champions Gujarat Titans (GT) and the four-time champion Chennai Super League (CSK). Hardik Pandya won the toss for the home team and invited MS Dhoni's army to bat first at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad.

Both teams have named strong lineups, including their Impact Players, for the tournament opener, where CSK will bat first.

Who won the toss today?

GT captain Pandya called it right at the coin flip, electing to bowl first at his team’s first-ever home game. GT’s four foreign players for the first game are Kane Williamson, Alzarri Joseph, Rashid Khan and Joshua Little.

The left-arm seamer Yash Dayal comes in as a usual entrant to the Playing XI; however, his entry could come good for the Titans, considering the dependence on right-handers in CSK’s batting lineup.

Meanwhile, they have picked Abhinav Manohar, KS Bharat, Jayant Yadav, Mohit Sharma, and Sai Sudharsan as their five Impact Players.

CSK’s Team Updates

Unlike GT, Chennai have gone with their trusting men. Ben Stokes, for whom CSK broke the bank in IPL Auction, will debut for the Yellove Army alongside Rajvardhan Hangargekar. They have also picked a batting-heavy side.

Tushar Deshpande, Shubranshu Senapati, Nishant Sindhu, Ajinkya Rahane and Shaik Rasheed are Chennai's five Impact Players for the IPL opening fixture.

New Rules in IPL 2023 - Impact Rule

As per BCCI's latest rules, in any fixture, both teams must name five substitutes, of which only one can be named in the Playing XI at any time. However, if a team needs to bring a foreign player to their playing party, they must announce just three foreign players to their initial lineup.
