Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma made a memorable return to domestic cricket by playing in the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy 2025-26 season. Both Indian superstars marked their comeback with impressive centuries in their opening matches.

Virat-Rohit's impressive performance in VHT

Virat Kohli played his first Vijay Hazare Trophy match for Delhi after more than 15 years. The game was played in Bengaluru on December 24 against Andhra Pradesh. Chasing a target of 299 runs, Kohli played a brilliant knock of 131 runs off 101 balls, hitting 14 fours and three sixes. His innings helped the Rishabh Pant-led Delhi team win the match by four wickets.

During this knock, Kohli also achieved a significant milestone by completing 16,000 runs in List A cricket. He became only the second Indian batter after Sachin Tendulkar to reach this landmark.

On the same day, Rohit Sharma also returned to the Vijay Hazare Trophy, representing Mumbai. Playing against Sikkim, the experienced opener smashed a stunning 155 runs off just 94 balls.

Rohit’s innings included 18 fours and nine sixes and helped Mumbai chase down a target of 237 runs comfortably, winning the match by eight wickets.

Both players returned to domestic cricket following the BCCI’s directive encouraging senior players to participate in domestic tournaments. Their performances showed their class and match fitness, even at this stage of their careers.

When And Where will RO-KO play next?

After scoring centuries in their opening matches, fans were eager to know whether Kohli and Rohit would play again in the tournament. The good news is that both players are scheduled to play at least one more match for their respective teams.

Virat Kohli will likely feature for Delhi in their second Elite Group D match against Gujarat on December 26. The game will be played at the BCCI’s Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru.

Rohit Sharma, meanwhile, will turn out for Mumbai in their second Elite Group C match against Uttarakhand on December 26. This match will be played at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur.

Both matches will begin at 9:00 AM IST. However, fans may be disappointed as there will be no live streaming available for either game.

With both Delhi and Mumbai leading their respective groups, all eyes will once again be on Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma as they take the field in the Vijay Hazare Trophy for the second round of matches.
