Hardik Pandya twisted his ankle on Thursday (October 19) during India’s World Cup 2023 match against Bangladesh at Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium, Pune. Hardik walked off after realising he couldn't continue after a while, as the injury seemed too serious.

So what exactly happened? How did Hardik have to face all these in this match? Scroll below to learn more.

What Happened To Hardik Pandya

It all happened when Litton Das played a gorgeous straight drive off Hardik during the ninth over of Bangladesh’s innings. The Indian all-rounder wanted to stop the ball with his right leg, but the timing of the shot was so smooth that he did not even get the chance.

After that, his left leg seemed injured as he went down on the pitch, holding it. The Indian physio came to the field soon after, and a few minutes later, it was all strapped.

It was a delight for the fans to see Hardik stand up and be ready to bowl again after he had gotten up from the floor. However, he realized he could not continue playing because the pain was too much in there.

Keeping India’s upcoming fixtures in mind, the decision of course was a smart one.

Meanwhile, Virat Kohli came to bowl the last three deliveries of Hardik's over, as crowd erupted when Rohit Sharma asked his partner-in-crime to complete the over.

It is still unknown whether Hardik will be available to play on Sunday in Men in Blue's next World Cup fixture against New Zealand in Dharamshala.

Nevertheless, there is little chance of Hardik returning to action against Bangladesh later in the day.
