Ireland hosted the England Women's team in a limited-overs series. The ODIs ended with the visitors winning by a 2-1 margin. However, the T20I series remained all-square at 1-1.

In the second match of the T20I series, the Irish women made history by defeating the England Women's team for the first time in a T20I. The match was being hosted at the Clontarf Cricket Club Ground in Dublin, Ireland.

Ireland managed to restrict England to moderate total

Ireland won the toss ahead of the game and opted to field first. The two English openers, Bryony Smith and Tammy Beaumont, made a good start for the team, stitching a partnership of 44 runs. The Irish team made a comeback into the game with two quick wickets.

After this, Paige Scholfield and Beaumont did the repair job for the team and guided the team towards a fighting total. However, the Irish team, showing remarkable resilience, made another comeback into the game. They started picking up wickets at regular intervals and, as a result, restricted England to 169/8 in 20 overs.

Orla Prendergast powered Ireland to memorable win

The chase did not start right for Ireland, as they lost Amy Hunter in the first over. But after the fall of the wicket, Gaby Lewis and Orla Prendergast stitched a partnership of 79 runs and kept the team in the hunt. Even after the dismissal of Lewis, Prendergast did not give away her wicket.

She continued to take the attack to the English bowlers and batted with great skill and courage. Prendergast stitched a partnership of 82 runs with Leah Paul and took the team to the doorstep of victory.

Kate Cross finally dismissed Prendergast, but not before she played a game-changing knock of 80 runs from 51 deliveries. Her innings were decorated with 13 fours. When Prendergast returned to the hut, Ireland needed seven runs in the last over to register their first-ever T20I win against England.

Although the task seemed easy, Ireland nearly messed up, losing two wickets in the final over. However, on the fifth delivery of the over, Mady Villiers missed a run-out chance and conceded an overthrow, and the winning runs came off Coulter Reilly.

Immediately after the win, the Irish team erupted in jubilant celebrations, a testament to their hard-fought victory. Notably, Ireland also defeated the English in the final match of the ODI series. Prendergast was oustanding in both the games of the T20I series. She finished the series with 132 runs in two matches, with two half-centuries under her belt.
