In a phenomenal achievement, legendary Indian batter Virat Kohli completed 9000 runs in Test cricket. The talismanic cricketer attained the remarkable feat during India's ongoing first Test against New Zealand at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.
With Shubman Gill missing the game due to a neck injury, India promoted Kohli up the order, asking him to take up the number three position. Although the stylish right-handed batter fell prey to Will O'Rourke for a duck in the first innings, he bounced back in style, slamming a sublime half century in the second innings.
Besides regaining his mojo with a fifty, Virat Kohli became only the fourth Indian batter to complete 9000 runs in Test cricket. Thus, he joined the legendary trio of Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid and Sunil Gavaskar, the other three cricketers to have achieved the milestone.

Virat Kohli Silences His Critics With A Valiant Knock
After Kohli departed for a duck in the first innings, he faced massive backlash from the Indian fans. However, this half-century in a tricky situation helped him silence his critics, proving his worth in Indian colours for the umpteenth time.
Talking about the match, India strongly responded to New Zealand's whopping first-innings total. Although Yashasvi Jaiswal was dismissed for 35 runs, Kohli, Rohit and Sarfaraz Khan hammered magnificent half-centuries, significantly reducing India's deficit. At the time of writing, India were 214 for two, with Kohli and Sarfaraz each batting on 62.
