The fight between India and Australia is heating up in the fourth Test of the Border Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25. The visitors are making an comeback in the game as they are giving the reply to the Aussies with some quick wickets in the third innings of the match.
Notably, Australia batted first after winning the toss in the game. Steve Smith played a solid knock of 140 runs to anchor the innings for the team and propel them towards a formidable total. Guided by the brilliant knock from Smith, Australia were able to post 474 runs at the end of their first innings.
Though the Aussies put India under pressure towards the end of the second day, the visitors fought hard to keep themselves in the game. It took a fighting knock from Nitish Reddy to take the Indian team to a total of 369 runs.
Australia walked out to bat in the third innings of the game with a lead of 105 runs under their belt. They would have hoped for some quick runs to take a the lead well past the 300 mark and bat India out of the game. However, the Indian bowlers have shown brilliant resilience and are scripting a dramatic comeback for the team.
Travis Head Fell Prey To India's Perfect Plan For Him
India have already taken five wickets of the Aussies in the second innings. The fourth wicket to fall was that of Travis Head. The left handed batter was dismissed after a perfect plan fell into place for the visitors. Just before the ball in which he was dismissed, Kohli placed a short square leg fielder after consulting with Bumrah.
Bumrah then went ahead and bowled a good length delivery at the middle and leg stump line. Travis Head flicked this ball in the air to be taken by Nitish Reddy at the square leg position. Immediately after the wicket, Virat Kohli was seen celebrating animatedly and then hugging Bumrah. The wicket meant a lot to the Indian team as Travis Head has been a big trouble for them lately.
