India and Australia are currently engaged in an intense battle in the fourth Test of the Border Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. The players are warming up to the occasion and it can be noted on how they are reacting on the field.

Steve Smith Anchored The Innings For India

The Australian team batted first in the game and posted a mammoth 474 runs in their first Innings. Steve Smith played a quality knock of 140 runs and played the anchor of the innings. It was expected that India will be under pressure after the total was posted by the home team.

The Indian team did not have the ideal start. However, the middle-order stood up the the challenged and tried to take the fight to the home team. By the end of the second day, the Aussies regained the advantage by taking a couple of quick wickets.

Nitish Reddy Led The Fought Back For India

On the third day of the match, Nitish Reddy fought hard and showed brilliant resilience to keep the team in the game. The Indian all-rounder played a gutsy knock and played the key role in taking India to the total of 369 runs in their first innings. 

Despite a fight back by the lower middle-order India conceded a lead of 105 runs after the first innings. Come the third innings of the game, both the team were keen on taking the advantage by playing their best cricket. 

Steve Smith Gestures 'Silence' To Mohammed Siraj

India started brilliantly by picking up the wickets of Sam Konstas and Usman Khawaja very quickly. After the wicket of Khawaja, Mohammed Siraj was seen silencing the MCG crowd during the celebration.

The gesture by Siraj might not have gone down well with the Australian maverick, Steve Smith. The number four batter of Australia as seen giving back the gesture to the Indian bowler later during the first session of day four. Smith was seen signalling silence to Mohammed Siraj by putting his finger on the lips.
