A stellar Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 season with Rajasthan Royals (RR) earned youngster Yashasvi Jaiswal his maiden Test call-up for India. Jaiswal has been kept on as stand-by in the Indian squad, that meets Australia in the upcoming ICC World Test Championship (WTC) 2023 at The Oval on June 7.
The 21-year-old was drafted into the squad as a replacement for Chennai Super Kings (CSK) opener Ruturaj Gaikwad, who will be unavailable for the Test due to personal reasons.
With training in full swing, Jaiswal was seen having his first outing with the men's senior side on Wednesday. After a lengthy net session, the youngster found himself getting guidance from none-other-than former captain Virat Kohli.
In the video, Kohli could be seen giving tips on foot movement, and downswing of the bat, while batting against in-swing bowling, where Jaiswal just stood and absorbed all the insights.
It is somewhat reminiscent of scenes from the IPL 2023, where Jaiswal was seen chatting with Kohli after Match 60 between RR and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in Jaipur, where the Faf du Plessis-led side hammered the hosts by 112 runs.
In IPL 2023, the Mumbai-born scored 625 runs from 14 matches, which includes one century and five fifties. Jaiswal also had a brilliant domestic season amassing 1,169 runs with five tons.
