Virat Kohli is known for his consistency across formats and everyone expected him to fire at M. Chinnaswamy, his adopted home against Afghans in the third T20I. However, in a bid to get going straightaway, he mistimed a shortish delivery and ended up falling for his first-ever golden duck in T20Is.
India won the toss and elected to bat first in a bid to taste their batting line-up while batting first. However, they flattered big time and were reduced to 22-4 in the 5th over. Yashasvi Jaiswal was the first one to depart, while Virat Kohli, who walked at number 3, departed for a golden duck on a sharp short delivery by Fareed Malik.
It was a shortish delivery on off, angling across the right-hander and Virat Kohli tried to pull it. However, he mistimed it completely, and the ball looped up high in the air towards mid off where Afghanistan captain Ibrahim Zadran took an easy catch.
Shivam Dube replaced Virat Kohli and could not last long either as he departed for a duck. However, the most disappointing dismissal was of Sanju Samson who had a golden opportunity to show his potential, but he ended up throwing his wicket off the very first ball.
